,,,,,,,I write this week from sunny San Diego where our entire family has traveled to see Doug and Laurie’s daughter, Katie, marry Daniel Kim. The uritywedding was beautiful. Katie and Dan decided to hold the wedding in her parent’s back yard and the setting couldn’t have been more romantic with lush foliage, tropical plants and white lights twinkling light stars.
……..Shannon and I almost didn’t make our flight. We got stopped at security because our id didn’t have the new universal flyer seal nor a passport. I remember reading about it, but I don’t remember large headlines telling me that if I didn’t have it I wouldn’t be allowed to fly.
……….We were told we could fill out the application and purchase the seal on our telephones. Thank goodness Shannon was with me cause at that moment is would have simply bid my family farewell and returned to the extended stay parking lot where I would roam for days seeking my car.
…….Shannon got hers and could have gone on to San Diego to extend her Mom’s apologies, but she stayed with me. I have a physical address and a post office box and that causes me tremendous grief when ordering anything. But this time both were being rejected. I kept going up to tsx agents and asking if they could help us. The answer was always no. Who should we go to for assistance in this matter? TSX was always the answer. “But you’re TSX?” Yes, they were but they were all to busy to help. My favorite was the female TSX agent who let loose on us, telling us that everyone knew they needed this so why did we even come to the airport without it and no she couldn’t help us.” At that moment, I understood rage. I also understood grace under fire. Shannon just kept trying different ways to get my application approved until finally we did. I would have given her the award for children who must deal with their parents lack of skills.
……….We got through and we are here, no thanks to TSX, however.
