I’m sad to say that we’ll meet Wednesday for story hour for the last time until fall. But I’m so proud to tell you that our kids have learned the alphabet from A to M, how to sign each of the letters in ASL, learned how to sign a corresponding animal sign in ASL for each of the letters, listened to stories about each of the animals, and made crafts. They also socialized, worked on motor skills, counting, colors, and had a lot of fun! We will continue with the letters N through Z in the fall when story hour starts back up.
Now that school’s almost out, you know what that means… it’s time for summer reading! And, boy, do we have a program planned for your kids! Since we weren’t able to meet in person last summer, we wanted to make this year’s program extra special. The theme this year is Tails & Tales, so we’re going to be talking about animals. We will also have a special guest presenter each evening to talk about the animals they’ll be bringing! We’ll end the week with an appearance from PJ’s Magical Events called Tales From The Wild. Summer Reading will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 14th through Friday, June 18 th for kids birth through seventeen. The kids will continue reading all summer long and then the top readers will be awarded prizes at the end of the summer. Please call the library at 304-564-3471 to register your child for this free, but fabulous program!
We are so excited to announce the return of our Hogwarts program! Is your child a Harry Potter fan? Then you need to register them for our day at Hogwarts program here at Swaney Memorial Library. It will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 151, in true Hogwarts fashion. Upon entering the library, your child will go through station 9 ¾ and enter Hogwarts, where they’ll be sorted into one of the houses. They’ll dine with their house in the great hall, before playing quidditch, making wands, hunting horcruxes, and taking potions classes. It costs $5 to
attend this program and we ask that you please register by Monday, August 2nd
so that we can
send out their acceptance letters in time.
