John Thomas Edwards, 75, of Chester, WV passed away Monday, December 27th surrounded by his family. Born December 24, 1946, in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Davis) Edwards. He graduated from Weir High School in 1965 and from West Liberty State College in 1969.
John was a teacher at Oak Glen High School for 37 years, retiring in 2006. From 2006 to 2021, he was the clock operator for sporting events, and he was the voice of
the Bears in many sports. From its students, administration, faculty, athletics, and alumni…John loved all things Oak Glen.
John was a member of the New Cumberland Lions Club. He was an avid bicyclist and angler. John loved playing and writing music and performed throughout the Valley.
Surviving is his wife Connie (Dunlevy) Edwards of Chester; a son, Brian (Sonia) Edwards of Canton, OH; a daughter, Lori (Tommy) Ogden of New Cumberland; two sisters, Nancy, and Linda Edwards of Weirton; sister-in-law Sandra (Jeff) Brown of Jackson Hole, WY; a nephew, Keaton Brown of Jackson Hole, WY and step-grandchildren Dylan, Marco, Brandon, and Samantha Morales.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to New Cumberland Lions Club. In the care of Alen Lee, PO Box 53, New Cumberland, WV 26047.
Visitation is from 12:00 to 4:30 PM, Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 at Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester with the funeral immediately following.
