Harold D. Snider, 101, passed away on May 20, 2022. Formerly of Lenora Lane, New Cumberland, Harold lived with his son, H. Daniel Snider, Jr., until recently as he has been a resident at Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV, where he passed away peacefully.
Harold was born in Reader, WV, and served in the armed forces in WWII then went on to work for Weirton Steel Co. for 32 yrs.
Harold was a true musical talent and could play any stringed instrument you gave him as well as several other musical instruments. He was a great song leader and had a wonderful bass voice. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as being a great friend. He was a member of Tomlinson Run church of Christ of Georgetown, PA, and a wonderful Christian example.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 yrs, Dorothy, who passed in 2019; his parents John Snider and Marth (Miller) Snider, as well as his oldest son, Hughie Franklin Snider, his brothers, George and Frank; and sisters Olive Amos, Lena Carroll and Geneva Tanis.
He is survived by his son, Dan (Judy) Snider of New Cumberland, WV; granddaughter Kim (John) Swords of New Cumberland, WV; grandsons Franklin Corey (Vicki) Snider of New Cumberland, WV and Daniel Snider of Wellsburg, WV. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Aaron and Amaya Snider of Bethlehem, WV and Tessa and Tori Snider of New Cumberland, WV.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at the Nixon Funeral Home in New Cumberland, WV. Services will be held at the New Cumberland Heights church of Christ at 10am on Wednesday. Officiating the service will be F. Corey Snider, his grandson.
