COMMISSION APPOINTS JONES TO BOARD OF HEALTH

       Former member of the House of Delegates and Weirton City Councilman Ronnie Jones was appointed to the Hancock County Health Board by the Hancock County Commission at Thursday’s meeting.  The Health Board has tackled controversial issues in past years with the implementation of the Indoor Clean Air Regulation which banned smoking in casinos and eating establishment.   The regulation was subsequently amended to allow casinos and LVLs to dedicate a portion of square footage for smoking patrons.

       The Commission approved the reappointment of former County Commission John Sorrenti to the Northern Panhandle Workforce Development Board.   Sorrenti has represented Hancock County on the Workforce Development Board for 35 years.   Courtney Petrovich, CPA, of D’Anniballe & Co., was also appointed to the Board.

        A grant-writing contract with Edmiston Developmental Service, LLC, was approved.   Edmiston will research eligible grants available for the County and perform grant-writing services for a fee of $14,500.00

In other business, the Commission;

**Approved the hiring of Sydney Brown for the position of part-time animal care at the Hancock County Animal Shelter;

**Agreed to pay Rhonda Dennis for accrued vacation time;

**Approved the raise in mileage reimbursement 58.5 to 62.5 miles pers hour per IRS guidelines;

**Agreed to advertise for an open position on the Northern Panhandle HOME consortium;  Carroll Rosenlieb of Hancock County Savings was reappointed to the Board;

**Set a special meeting for 9:30 a.m. June 30 to act on a resolution, application for designation as depository, with Federal Reserve Financial  Services;

**Approved a letter of permission to the WV Alcohol Beverage Control Administration for the Hoopie Mountain Music Festival June 27-August 1 at the Get Togethers Picnic Grounds, Kings Creek;

**Issued a proclamation for Amateur Radio Week.  The group will hold a National Field Day event June 25 from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gas Valley Sports Complex.  The Field Day provides the public with information regarding the science,  service and skills provided to the community free of  charge.
