A total of $45,000 was awarded to the 2022 Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation recipients. A reception was held in the Community Room of the Weirton branch of Hancock County Savings Bank on November 1st this year. The awards were presented to representatives of the recipient organizations. Doug Comm, Bank President and CEO and Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors stated, “Today is all about providing support to these impressive organizations and the people that run them so that they can meet their respective missions. We are humbled to play a small role in making that possible.”
Serving as the Foundation Board of Directors are Chairman Doug Comm, Current President George Ash, Treasurer Alicia Davis, Secretary Anthony Bernardi, Catherine Ferrari, Romie Castelli, Cheryl Schreiber, Marvin Six, Drew Cooper and Steve Cooper. All of the Board members are volunteers.
The Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation has been in existence for over twenty years and has gifted over 1 million dollars to local service and support organizations to date.

Allison Elementary, Blue Stream Farms Corporation, Brooke Hancock County Veterans Park, Inc., Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network, Inc., City of East Liverpool, Communicycle Beaver County, Inc., First United Methodist Church, Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, Greater Weirton Senior Citizens Center Inc., Hancock County Humane Foundation, Inc., Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania & West Virginia, Museum of Ceramics, New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Dept., Newell Volunteer Fire Department Inc., Ohio Valley Youth Network, Rotary Club of Calcutta, Rotary Club of East Liverpool, Rotary Club of Beaver, Starvaggi Park Civic Association, The Salvation Army of Weirton, Wellsville Community Foundation, and Youth Services System, Inc.
Funding for the Foundation is derived primarily from contributions by Hancock County Savings Bank as part of their mission, which includes a commitment to supporting the dedicated work of community organizations. The Foundation promotes charitable and educational activities and generally provides funding in areas such as seed money for startup costs of new and innovative programs, human services or educational programs, capital and equipment needs, matching grants, and one-time grants for programs not requiring refunding. The next round of Grant applications must be submitted by September 30, 2023. Following a detailed selection process that includes an evaluation of each application according to the grant guidelines, awards will be announced in November 2023.
This year Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Board member Steve Cooper has retired after 22 years of service. The Board Thanks Mr. Cooper for his service to the Community.
