OBITUARY: ROBERT “JOE” O’HANLON

Robert Winston (Joe) O’Hanlon, 84, of East Liverpool, Ohio joined his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 after a long illness at his home with his wife, Margaret, at his side.  Joe was born in East Liverpool on July 3, 1938, a son of the late Glenn and Virginia O’Hanlon.

Joe was a member of the 1956 graduating class at East Liverpool High School.  Throughout his life he had worked at Homer Laughlin China, City Loan, Crucible Steel, Quaker State and Ergon.  He retired as an operator from Quaker State Oil Refinery in 1998 after many years of employment.

God blessed Joe with a wonderful life. Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandpa.  He was an avid gardener, loved fishing at Beaver Creek State Park, enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.  Joe always looked forward to cheering The Ohio State Buckeyes on every Saturday they played. In retirement, Joe enjoyed giving back to his community by volunteering at the ELHS Alumni Association.  He was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian where he worshiped and had served as a deacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his siblings Dick O’Hanlon, Len O’Hanlon, and Dolly Hickman, as well as his daughter-in-law Alice Schnell O’Hanlon.

Joe is survived and will be missed greatly by his loving and devoted wife Margaret of 66 years, sons Joe (Becky), Mark (Melissa), and Steve, his seven grandchildren Erin, Sarah, Matt, Adam, Doug, Amanda and Emily, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Joe’s life may be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester
