Our family heritage of joy, sharing and love will live on through the memory of our loved one. Elmer (Rick) Keller Jr. 91 of Chester, passed into glory on July 16, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1933, in Colliers WV, the son of the late Elmer and Catherine(Wagner) Keller.
He proudly served his country in battle in the U S Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was wounded three times and received three Purple Heart medals. He retired from Combustion Engineers formerly Globe Brick. Rick spent much time at the family “ Hoopie Cabin” with his sons and other boys from the Cub Scout group where they enjoyed hunting. Rick started, sponsored and coached a sports program for Newell youngsters. He attended Chester Church of the Nazarene and the Newell Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by a son, Corey Keller and two grandsons; a brother Fritz Keller; three sisters, Amelia Beebout, Adaline Morris and Louise Pugh.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Mills) Keller, six of seven sons, Elmer “Rick” Keller III (Diane), Dan (Tracy) Keller, Tim Keller, Scott (Michelle) Keller, Matt(Julie) Keller and Jason Keller (Heather); daughter –in-law, Michelle Keller. He enjoyed 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 1 to 3 pm and 5 pm till time of service at 7 pm, Military Honors will be conducted by the Chester American Legion and V F W honor guard.
