Well, it’s been a bit of a quiet winter, here at Lynn Murray Memorial Library. We were closed so many days, because Hancock County Schools were closed, and it’s our Winter Policy to follow the school for closing and delays. But, the time away from the library, gave me a lot of time to work from home and prepare for a fun-filled Spring and Summer for y’all.
So what’s on the horizon at Lynn Murray Memorial Library? Well…get your calendars out and get ready to fill ‘em up.
Storytime is now back in session at the library. We always hold our Winter Session, virtually, because of the weather and sickness. And, boy did we see a lot of both this winter. The kiddos came back to a Dr Seuss Party, complete with party hats, stories, crafts and fun, and maybe some milk and cookies. If you have kiddos, from birth to 5 years ols, please call to register for our Storytime. We meet every Wednesday, except March 19, from 10:30-11 for birth – 2, and from 11:30-12:30 for 2-5 yr olds.
Card Making Class is back, on the second Tuesday of the month, beginning in March. We meet from 10:30-12:30. Each class is $5/person, and all materials for the class are provided.
PLARN class resumes on the second Thursday of each month, from 4-6, beginning again in March. Come on out and support our deployed soldiers, by cutting and making PLARN, or crocheting mats.
Quilting is ongoing, every Thursday from 4-6. We will be extending our Quilting hours to noon-6, beginning in June. If you already know how to quilt, or if you wanna learn, we have a great group of people who are willing to teach ya. If you don’t have a sewing machine, don’t worry. We have 4 machines that have been donated to the library for your use.
We’ve begun an Adult Craft Group that meets every Friday at 1:00. The class is $5/person. Ya never know what we’re gonna make. March 14 will be St Patrick’s Day Wreaths, March 21 will be Easter Egg String Art, and March 28 will be Easter Carrot pinecones. No need to register for these. Just show up and have some fun.
Our Sit & Stitch is still going strong every Friday from 11-6. So many people working on so many different projects. Bring whatever project you’re working on, or come learn a new craft. We’d love to have ya.
Saturday, March 15 will be our Easter Egg YoYo Class, for adults. The class will be $5 and you will need a box of straight pins. Class begins at 11 and will go til about 1.
Saturday, march 22 we will be watching a Kids Movie at 11:00. No need to register.
And the BIG event for March…our Annual FORMAL FRENZY will be Saturday, March 29 from 10-2. Gowns may be dropped off at the library on Thursday and Friday, March 27&28, any time between 10&6. YOU will pay $5 per gown you bring in. WE will try to sell them for you, and YOU will receive the money. All monies and gowns MUST be picked up by Monday, March 31 at 4pm.
I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s time to be busy at the library , was I ? A SNEAK PEEK for April…A NEW PROGRAM is coming our way. Every Thursday in April and May, at 1:00, WVU Extension Office will be here with a Nutrition Class. More info will be coming on that, real soon.
Our Annual SEEDS & TREES Program will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00. We will be planting our seeds, prepping our garden, having a story, and passing out trees. Don’t miss all the fun.
We will be CLOSED in April, on 18, 19 and 21, for our Easter Break.
Stay tuned for photos of all the things happening at Lynn Murray Memorial Library each week. We love sharing our photos with y’all.
Until next time, open a book, use your imagination, and go places you’ve never been.
Happy Reading
