The final approval from the National Parks Service for CEMCO Inc. and the Hancock County Commission to enter into the Kennedy Marina Concessionaire Agreement has been received. Commission President Eron Chek noted that the Commission had previously received administrative review approval, but this constitutes formal approval.
Commissioners approved the following 2026 committee and board appointments for Chek and Tommy Ogden. Chek – Hancock County Health Board, Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, Brooke Hancock Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission, Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle; Tommy Ogden – County Extension Services, Top of West Virginia CVB, Hancock County Parks & Recreation, Northern Panhandle Workforce Development Board and Jefferson County Humane Society. This marks the second year that Commissioner Paul Cowey is not serving on any of the boards and committees.
In other business, the Commission:
**Accepted and awarded a bid for the demolition and abatement of 697 Ohio River Blvd. to Aster Field Services for $17,000.00. The bid includes the removal of asbestos;
**Approved the order and notice for a Special Excess Levy on May 12,2026 for the purpose of funding the Hancock County Libraries;
**Accepted Patrick Arneault’s resignation from the Brooke Hancock Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission. Agreed to advertise for the position;
**Accepted and approved the following internal budget revisions: County Commission – $15,000.00′ Extension Office – $19,400.00; Courthouse, $72,300.00; Emergency Services – $400.00; and Animal Shelter -$128,350.00
**Approved hiring the following Sheriff’s Reserves: Shawn Edgell, Justin Graves, Keith Carroll and Ezell Grays, III.
