Karan (Baier) Valenti has filed as Republican candidate for Hancock County Clerk. Valenti has twelve years of experience in the County Clerk’s office. She began working in the election office in 2009 and together with the late Jeanne Gibson successfully executed three Primary elections, three General elections and two Special elections. During that time, they also established poll workers, maintained voter records and tracked election reporting.
“In January 2013, I accepted the position of Accounts Payable Clerk in the County’s Finance Office where I am currently responsible for paying the county’s invoices for over 30 different funds totaling approximately $1 million per month,” said Baier. “I maintain the three county levies, maintain vendor information and run monthly as well as yearly reports. I also balance my accounts with the Tax Office monthly.”
“I frequently work with the County’s Finance Director and feel this gives me the knowledge needed to handle budgets that will let me efficiently operate the County Clerk’s office. With my experience in two of the three departments, I will be a valuable asset to the office. I will be a full-time, working County Clerk and vow to be accessible to the residents of Hancock County and my office staff.”
Baier is the second child of four born to the late Francis (Bucky) Baier of Weirton and Dorothy (Kaczmarek) Baier of New Cumberland. She has two sisters, Judy (Marty) Mazezka and Ranea (Bill) Daugherty and one, brother, David Baier.
She and her late husband, Robert (Bobby) Valenti, Jr. were married for almost 34 years before his sudden passing after a long illness, They were blessed with three children: Kayla Valenti, 30, who studied accounting at St, Mary’s College in Notre Dame, In. and is employed as a tax manager for Deloitte. Matthew Valenti, 28, of Weirton spent a year at Marshall University before entering the US Marine Corp where he served his country for four years. Matthew is now a student as West Virginia University on the GI Bill studying history. Robert (Robby) Valenti, III, 21, is a post-closing associate with Single Source Property Solutions. Robert attend WVU for one year prior to COVID and plans to return to college in the future.
